Magic Carpet Malfunctions During California Adventure's 'Aladdin' Show

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KTLA) -- Cast members of Disney's "Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular" show at California Adventure had quite a scare Sunday after the magic carpet malfunctioned.
Parkgoers quickly took to Twitter Sunday afternoon to spread the news.
Actors playing Aladdin and Jasmine, equipped with harnesses, were riding over the audience during the 4:45 p.m. show Sunday when the mishap occurred.
According to reports, the show was halted and audience members were quickly evacuated as crew members worked to fix the carpet.
No injuries were reported.
"Long story short, at CA Adv, the Aladdin show, when they fly on the magic carpet it flipped over and they were just hanging," Twitter user hahamanda said.
"Hope Aladdin and Jasmine are okay," user SASHAshhhh tweeted. "scary stuff."
User liltorib tweeted "I hope they get down soon."
"During today's 4:50pm performance of Aladdin at Disney California Adventure, there was a malfunction on the flying carpet, on which two performers were riding," Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown said.
"As is our safety practice, both performers were harnessed and they were uninjured."

As some of you may know, today is the 15th anniversary of the release of Aladdin and the King of Thieves.
Being the nerd that I am, I felt the need to celebrate this somehow. Heck, since my username is about Sa'luk, it felt like a life requirement. So I decided to make .gifs.
Lots and lots of .gifs. Over 2300 of them.
Some of them are incredibly random and ridiculous, but most of them are straight and normal and "awww, yay KOT!"ish. Many also reflect that fact that I'm a Forty Thieves and random character lover. :D
They Finally Got Married!(15 years ago...)
This album has pretty much the entire film in animated gif form. There's not a sorting system in place for them yet, because I wanted to have them online and done by today (started the project about 10 days ago), but the film is in order. I plan to tag them all at some point soon, to make it easier to find specific character gifs and the like. There are 118 pages of them... it'll take me a while, but I'll get it done.
Clearly, I have no life.

I just saw the Aladdin stage musical I just saw the Aladdin musical I JUST SAW THE ALADDIN MUSICAL I JUST SAW THE ALADDIN MUSICAL NO I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST DID. DID I JUST SEE THE ALADDIN MUSICAL FOR REAL? WHAT IF IT WAS JUST A DREAM? I THINK I JUST SAW THE ALADDIM MUSICAL.
I will try to write a somewhat coherent report and I want want want to share details only total Aladdin dorks can find reason to squee and go hmmm... over BUT JUST NOW I CAN'T. AND I CAN'T EVEN. I DON'T EVEN KNOW MY NAME AND GOD, WHERE AM I? WAIT WASN'T I STILL IN A CLASSROOM IN TOKYO JUST SOME HOURS AGO? WHY IS IT SO BRIGHT IN HERE? AND IT'S WARM, AND REAL AND BRIIIIGHT
AND THE WORLD HAS SOMEHOW SHIFTED. (Rapunzel-moment over#)

Some backstage photos with Genie, Aladdin, Jasmine, Sultan and Jafar via Don Darryl Rivera's photo blog. Their costumes are seriously freaking gorgeous, it should be illegal.

Also, the show ends this weekend (*crying*) and then who knows what'll happen from here. It's all up to Disney and the theater at that point. WRITE THOSE LETTERS, GUYS.
